Guide to Installing, Cleaning, and Maintaining Your Bubble Chandelier

by zhongchanghuan 27 May 2024 0 Comments

The PAKOKULA's bubble light fixture not only provides illumination but can also play a more significant role. Even when it's not turned on, it's a work of art: a chic touch that catches the eye. Good design is important to us, and we enjoy talking about this aspect of modern lighting. But to ensure your bubble pendant light truly shines, it must also be properly installed, cleaned, and maintained. So today, we'll dive into all these practical, intricate details! Here's everything you need to know about maintaining, cleaning, and caring for your bubble pendant light.

1.How to Unpack and Install a Bubble Pendant Light

Firstly, your bubble pendant light has arrived (yay!) You can't wait to see it in your space, and we can't wait to hear your thoughts! Here's how to safely and correctly unpack and install it:To protect your glass bubble pendant light from breaking, keep the bubble wrap packaging throughout the unpacking and installation process.

Remove the steel universal installation bar and install it to the electrical box.
Using a screwdriver, loosen the plastic screws in the stress relief device (installed in front of the canopy).

Slide the pendant light cord over until it touches the leather/cotton/jute cord.

Tighten the plastic screws on the stress relief device and tie a knot in the pendant light cord above the canopy. If you decide to hang your fixture lower or elsewhere, we'll leave extra white pendant light cord. If you're satisfied with the height, continue wrapping the excess cord around the canopy or trim it off after tying the stress relief device knot. (Not sure what this means? We provide photos of the canopy and stress relief device in the packaging, along with instructions!)

Connect the wires from the junction box to the pendant light wiring. Remember, the black wire is the hot wire, the white wire is the neutral wire, the green wire is the ground wire, and it wraps around the green screw on the horizontal bar support.

Add the provided wire nuts to the end of each electrical connection and tighten until secure. Wrap securely with electrical tape.

Place the ceiling canopy on top of the universal bar, matching the holes in the canopy with the holes in the bar.
Add screws and tighten.

Before turning on the bubble pendant light, gently remove the bubble wrap paper! To avoid bubble wrap melting. If your pendant light has a bubble wrap bag, remove the staples and gently open the bag. Do not pull on the glass balls; this may pull and damage the connectors, causing the pins to bend.

After installation and unpacking, you may need to slightly adjust and shape the bubble.

PAKOKULA' light fixtures each come with separate installation instructions in each package.

2.How to Clean a Glass Bubble Pendant Light ?      install a bubble chandelierIf you've had your bubble light for a while, be honest… When was the last time you cleaned it? Last month, last year, or (cough) never? If the glass starts to look dusty or dirty, it's time to tackle this task! Don't worry, cleaning a glass bubble light isn't difficult. Follow these instructions, and your bubble pendant light will shine bright again!

Before cleaning, ensure the bubble pendant light is turned off and feels cool to the touch.

Put on the provided gloves and gently wipe the glass bubbles to remove dust and fingerprints. If you want to do a more thorough cleaning, you can use a lint-free microfiber cloth or clean, dry paper towel with non-solvent glass cleaner (do not spray directly on the bubbles). Be careful not to pull on the wire connectors or let the bubbles touch each other.

3.How to Care for the Metal Finishes on a Bubble Pendant Light

Our custom pendant lights have several different metal finishes, so you can achieve the look you want. Caring for the finishes is a quick task that can make a big difference! So put on those gloves, turn on some tunes, and make that metal look its best. The care instructions vary depending on the metal type.

Unlacquered Brass
Unlacquered (unpainted) brass is a living finish, which means it will patina and form a layered green patina over time. This gives your brass pendant light a rich, aged character, which we think is beautiful. If you want to let this process naturally occur, you only need to occasionally wipe the brass clean with a clean, dry microfiber cloth.

If you want your brass to look shiny, polished, and new, you can maintain this as well! When you notice your brass looking a bit dull, use a non-abrasive brass polish to bring the finish back to its original shine. After polishing, add a layer of new wax to protect the finish.

Polished Nickel
Polished nickel is brass plated with nickel and then polished to a shine. It has a warmer silver tone than chrome, doesn't lose its shine, and is easy to care for. To care for your polished nickel pendant light, wet a clean microfiber cloth with water. Add a drop of mild dish soap and gently wipe the polished nickel to remove dirt and dust.

Wipe dry with a clean, dry microfiber cloth and buff to a shine. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, strong cleaners, and cleaners containing bleach, as they can damage the surface. If needed, you can use a non-abrasive polished nickel polish to polish the surface and increase the shine.

Powder-Coated Metal (Black or White)

Powder coating is a very durable metal protective coating (the "paint" on cars and bikes is done with this process). Powder coating isn't a liquid paint but is applied as a dry powder, then heated to a high temperature until it hardens into a smooth surface. To clean powder-coated light fixtures, wet a clean microfiber cloth with warm water and mild soap and gently wipe to remove dirt and dust. Wipe dry with a clean, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, strong cleaners, and cleaners containing bleach, as they can damage the surface.

4.How to Replace Bulbs in a Bubble Fixture

Replacing bulbs in a globe fixture isn't difficult, but it does require some extra steps and steady hands. Therefore, we recommend having two people complete this task. Here's how to do it correctly:

Have one person gently move the glass bubble to the side and then unscrew and replace the bulb as usual.

If you have the fixture installed with a dimmer switch, note that LED bulbs require an ELV (Electronic Low Voltage) compatible dimmer to work properly. We recommend the Lutron Diva dimmer switch, which is a good option. How do you know if your dimmer switch is compatible? When using a standard incandescent dimmer, the LED bulb will get stuck at the lowest dimming setting, hardly emit any light, flicker, or emit an (extremely annoying) humming noise. 5.What to Do if a Bubble Pendant Light is Damaged or Broken

safe transportation at Pakokula

While this is rare, sometimes damage and breakage do occur. Don't worry, we've got your back! Depending on how and when the damage occurred, you can take the following measures:

If Damaged Upon Arrival: We take great care in carefully packing our designer light fixtures, but sometimes damage can occur during shipping. If your bubble pendant light arrives with any damage, please contact ServiceCharles@pakokulalighting.com within seven days of receiving it. You'll need to provide clear photos of the damaged box, packaging, and/or product. Please keep the damaged box for FedEx to inspect.

If Damaged Within the First Year: PAKOKULA LIGHTING provides a one-year warranty for all products. Our warranty is limited to repairing or replacing the product and does not cover damage due to misuse or normal wear and tear. Improper installation or failure to follow our care instructions will void the warranty entirely.
If the Glass Bubble Breaks Within the First Month: The most common type of damage is a broken glass bubble. If you find your glass bubble broken within the first 30 days of receiving it, we will happily replace it for free. Please email ServiceCharles@pakokulalighting.com with a photo of the broken glass bubble. After the first month, you can purchase a replacement from our store.
To install a new bubble, remove the broken glass from the pin and be careful not to bend the pin. If the pin is slightly bent, you can straighten it by hand until it forms a "T" shape with the wire. Slide one end of the pin into the new bubble until the entire pin is inside.

6.How to Regularly Maintain a Bubble Pendant Light?

To keep your bubble pendant light in its best condition, regular maintenance is essential. Here are some suggestions:

Dust Regularly: Every week, use a clean microfiber cloth or feather duster to lightly dust the glass bubbles and metal parts to prevent dust buildup.

Check Wires and Connectors: Every few months, check the wires and connectors to ensure there are no loose or damaged parts.
Regularly Polish Metal Parts: Depending on the metal type, regularly use the appropriate polish and protective wax to maintain the shine and protection of the metal parts.

7.How to Handle Stubborn Stains and Oxidation

Sometimes a bubble pendant light may have stubborn stains or oxidized metal parts. Here's how to handle these issues:
Stubborn Stains: For stubborn stains, you can use warm water and mild soap to gently wipe clean. Avoid using strong cleaners to prevent damaging the surface.

Oxidized Metal: For oxidized metal parts, you can use a non-abrasive metal polish to treat them. After polishing, add a layer of protective wax to prevent further oxidation.

By following these steps, you can ensure your bubble pendant light always stays in its best condition, becoming a shining focal point in your home.
